New Orleans Strathspey & Reel Society: Calendar of Events

Welcome to the home of the Gulf south’s own Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. Community-based Scottish fiddle "orchestras", in the form of fiddle clubs and Strathspey and reel societies, are a popular aspect of Scottish fiddle music. Similar societies are found not only in Scotland but also in Nova Scotia, Australia and throughout the United States. Strathspeys and reels are two of the most distinctive forms of Scottish traditional music performed in ensembles of fiddles along with other traditional instruments.
