About Us

Our Mission

To educate the public about the wonderful traditional music of Scotland and the surrounding regions and to teach, present, and perform this music.

Society Profile

Our members are mostly amateur musicians drawn from the both the classical and folk traditions. We meet regularly to discuss, teach, learn and play tunes from the repertoire of traditional music of Scotland, Cape Breton Island, Ireland, and the United States. Traditional instruments in our ensemble include, in addition to violins, Accordion, concertina, mandolin, flute, whistle, bagpipe, piano and bodhran

With a cadre of about 12 musicians, the performing members of the group have played at regional Celtic festivals, Scottish Highland Games, Whisky tastings, Farmer’s Markets, Community festivals and St. Andrew’s Day celebrations. We have performed in support of charitable organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House.

We sponsor, support and participate in workshops bringing in Master teachers from great distances to advance the education of interested musicians in the region.

We enjoy cordial and mutually supportive relationships with other Scottish and Celtic music and cultural organizations in our area.

We regularly perform in the Greater New Orleans area as well as at festivals in the Gulf South States
